  • What is a Smartbox ?

    A Smartbox is a gift you live!

    Each Smartbox gift box, gives its recipient the opportunity to select an experience of their choice from a range offered within the gift box. It’s the perfect alternative to a material gift.

    Gift boxes are available as both physical boxes and e-Vouchers (delivered via email). Both formats include a voucher or voucher number that allows the recipient to reserve their chosen experience.

    If you have received a gift box and would like to access the full list of experiences available, you should register your voucher to your personal account. You can create an account as part of the online registration process.

  • What can I do using the Smartbox App?

    The Smartbox app is simple and easy to use. With the app you can:

    • • Register your voucher
    • • Create an account
    • • View your registered vouchers
    • • Browse partners
    • • Book an activity
    • • Access your pass

    If you want to purchase a gift box, book a getaway or exchange your gift box, the Smartbox app will redirect you to the Smartbox website to complete these actions.

  • How do I know if I've got the latest version of the app?

    From time to time, our app will be updated to incorporate new features and performance improvements. We will always try to inform you when you need to update the app but you can also check for updates via your device.

    Android users
    • 1. Open the Google Play Store app
    • 2. Select Menu and then My apps & games
    • 3. If an update is available, you will see it listed here and be able to download it
    iOS users
    • 1. Open the App Store app
    • 2. Select the Updates icon at the bottom of the screen
    • 3. If an update is available, you will see it listed here and be able to download it

  • How do I reset my account password?
    If you’ve forgotten your password:
    • 1. On the home screen of the app, select Log In
    • 2. Under the log-in fields, you will see the option to recover your lost password, select Recover
    • 3. You will now be redirected to a forgot password screen. Enter your email address in the field provided and select Reset Password
    • 4. You will now receive an email that enables you to create a new password
    If you’re logged in and want to change your password:
    • 1. Select the Settings tab on the app menu
    • 2. You will be redirected to your account page
    • 3. Scroll down to the Password section
    • 4. Insert your current password and new password in the specified fields, and select Save Changes
    • 5. Your password has now been updated

  • How do I create an account?

    You can create an account when registering a voucher. Please see our question How do I register a gift box? for more information.

  • How do I register a gift box?

    It’s quick and easy to register a gift box using the Smartbox app.

    • 1. On the home screen of the app, select Register My Gift Box
    • 2. The next screen outlines the information you need to register your gift box. Once you’re happy to proceed, click Next
    • 3. You can now use your device to scan your voucher – simply point your camera at the barcode on your voucher and your phone will automatically gather the information it requires
      If you prefer, you can enter the details of your gift box manually by selecting Enter Code Manually
    • 4. Once scanned, you may be prompted to enter your voucher’s 3-digit confirmation code
    • 5. Finally, you will be taken to the account creation page where you can create an account or log in to an existing one
    • 6. If you don’t already have one, select Create New Account
    • 7. Enter your email address and passwords in the specified fields and select Create New Account
    • 8. You are now logged in to your new account and can view your registered gift box

  • Where can I view my registered gift boxes?

    It’s easy to view your registered gift boxes on the Smartbox app – all you need to do is log in to your personal account:

    • 1. On the home screen of the app, select the option to Log In
    • 2. Enter your email address and password in the specified fields and select Log In
    • 3. Your registered gift boxes will now be displayed – you can scroll up and down to view multiple gift boxes

  • How can I check the validity of my gift box?

    Once your gift box is registered, you can check its validity by logging in to your account:

    • 1. On the home screen of the app, select the option to Log In
    • 2. Enter your email address and password in the specified fields and select Log In
    • 3. Your registered gift boxes will now be displayed, along with their validity dates – you can scroll up and down to view multiple gift boxes
  • My gift box has not been ‘activated’, what should I do?

    For security reasons, gift boxes are activated after the time of purchase.

    If the gift box was purchased online, it will be activated within 30 minutes. If the gift box was purchased in a store, it may take up to 24 hours for it be activated.

    If the relevant time period has already passed, please send a copy of your proof of purchase to info-ireland@smartbox.com along with your gift certificate number

Selecting a partner

  • How do I select a partner?

    If you haven’t done so already, register your gift box using the Smartbox app.

    • 1. Once registered, you will find your gift box in the My Boxes section of the app
    • 2. Select the gift box you want to browse. On the next screen you will find key information relating to your gift box and a list of the partners available to you
    • 3. For an activity box, you can browse all available partners by scrolling up and down, or by using the Search function
    • 4. For a getaway box, select Book Online Now which will redirect you to our website where you will be able to browse a full list of the partners currently available to you

Booking

  • How do I book an activity?

    If you haven’t done so already, register your gift box using the Smartbox app.

    • 1. Once registered, you will find your gift box in the My Boxes section of the app
    • 2. Select the gift box you want to use – you can browse all available partners by scrolling up and down, or by using the Search function
    • 3. Select any partner to view more information on the experience
    • 4. Once you’re happy with your selection, select Call Now, which will connect you via telephone to the partner. You can now complete your booking directly with the partner
  • How do I book a getaway?

    You must book your getaway directly with your chosen partner; just let them know you're booking with a Smartbox.

    • 1. Once registered, you will find your gift box in the My Boxes section of the app
    • 2. Select the gift box you want to use – you can browse all available partners by scrolling up and down, or by using the Search function
    • 3. Select any partner to view more information on the experience
    • 4. Once you’re happy with your selection, select Call Now, which will connect you via telephone to the partner. You can now complete your booking directly with the partner
    • 5. You can now search for your desired getaway from the list provided. You can also refine your search by Names, Dates and Location, and view more information on a particular getaway by clicking on an entry
    • 6. When you're ready to book, select your required date(s) and click Continue
      • • Dates in green indicate immediate availability
      • • Dates in yellow indicate you can make a request to book
      • • Dates in grey indicate they are not available
    • 7. Once you’re happy with the details of your booking select Continue
    • 8. Complete your personal details, check the box to indicate you’ve read and accept the General Conditions of Reservation, and select Send Your Reservation
    • 9. Your reservation or reservation request is now complete

  • I made a reservation but I need to change or cancel it. What can I do?

    I reserved a Getaway or an Activity (Gourmet, Pampering, Adventure).

    To cancel or change a Getaway or an Activity you must contact the partner directly. Please note, the ability to amend or cancel your Activity will vary depending on the partner's cancellation policy.

    You can find partner contact details within your booklet (physical box) or by checking the list within your personal account:

    • 1. Log in to your personal account
    • 2. Go to the My Gift Certificates section
    • 3. Click on the box to view a list of all partners

Attending my experience

  • What do I need to bring to my activity or getaway?

    Once your gift box is registered, all you need to bring is the Smartbox app.

    To access your pass:

    • 1. Log in to the Smartbox app
    • 2. You will find your gift box in the My Boxes section of the app
    • 3. Select View Pass to generate your pass on screen
    • 4. The partner can then get the information they need on screen – it’s that simple
  • What is the ‘Redeem’ feature and when should I use it?

    When viewing details of your voucher via the app, you will see an option to Redeem your voucher. This feature allows you to redeem the voucher on behalf of the experience provider when you arrive there. Redeeming via the app will help the experience provider get you started on your activity or gourmet experience faster.

    Please make sure to only redeem your voucher in the presence of the experience provider.

    • 1. To redeem your voucher, login to the app and access My Gift boxes. Select the voucher, click the Redeem tab and then Next.
      The app may ask for your permission to access Your Location – this is to locate the correct experience provider. If you prefer not to allow this access, you will be directed to a list of recently viewed experiences.
    • 2. Select the correct experience provider from the map or list.
    • 3. On the next screen, you will see the details of your experience. To proceed with the redemption, click Continue.
    • 4. You will then be asked to confirm the redemption. Validate that the information is correct and click Redeem to proceed.

      Your voucher has now been redeemed. You can still access details about this voucher via My Gift boxes.
